# Connect Claude or ChatGPT

> Add diagramkit to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Codex and ask for diagrams in the chat.

diagramkit works inside Claude and ChatGPT as a connector. You ask for a diagram in the chat, the assistant sends your request to diagramkit, and the finished image comes back in one to three minutes. Diagrams use your diagramkit account's credits and stay private to that account.

## Claude (web, desktop and mobile)

1. In Claude, open **Settings → Connectors**. If diagramkit is listed, select it and choose **Connect**. Otherwise choose **Add custom connector**, name it diagramkit and enter `https://mcp.diagramkit.ai/mcp`.
2. Sign in to diagramkit in the window that opens, or create a free account.
3. In a chat, ask how something works or paste numbers to chart. Claude calls diagramkit and shows the image.

On Team and Enterprise Claude plans, an owner adds the connector for the organization first, then each person connects their own diagramkit account.

## Claude Code

Install the plugin, which adds the connector and a skill that tells Claude Code when a diagram helps:

```bash theme={null}
/plugin marketplace add colinmatthews/diagramkit-plugin
/plugin install diagramkit@diagramkit
```

Or add the connector alone with `claude mcp add --transport http diagramkit https://mcp.diagramkit.ai/mcp`. Claude Code opens the diagramkit sign-in the first time it calls a tool.

## ChatGPT

1. In ChatGPT, open **Apps** and search for **diagramkit**, then choose **Connect**. (Until the listing is live, a workspace with developer mode on can add `https://mcp.diagramkit.ai/mcp` as a custom app.)
2. Sign in to diagramkit, or create a free account.
3. Type **@diagramkit** in a chat and ask.

On Business, Enterprise and Edu, your admin chooses which apps the workspace can use.

## Codex

Add `colinmatthews/diagramkit-plugin` as a plugin marketplace, then run `codex plugin add diagramkit@diagramkit`.

## What you can ask for

| Ask | What happens |
| - | - |
| "How does a CDN serve a cached image? Draw it." | A new diagram (5 credits a page). |
| "Make the database stand out." | A new version through the agent (2 credits a changed page). |
| "Change 'Edge' to 'Edge server'." or "Move the cache below the API." | An exact edit, in seconds, with no credits. |
| "Animate it and give me an MP4." | An animation (8 credits a page), then the file. |
| "Download it as SVG." | A file link that works for 15 minutes. SVG and PDF need a paid plan. |
| "List my diagrams." / "Delete the CDN diagram." | Your diagrams, newest first; deleting removes every version and cannot be undone. |

Add where the diagram will be used ("for our docs", "for a LinkedIn carousel", "as a data story") and diagramkit shapes the frame, text and downloads for it. See [Presets](https://docs.diagramkit.ai/presets.md).

## Your brand (Team and Enterprise)

Ask the assistant to "use our brand: primary colour #0f766e, Inter for headings". It shows a preview on a sample diagram, and applies the brand to every new diagram once you say yes. From a codebase, Claude Code or Codex can gather your design tokens and figures and send them to diagramkit's brand assistant; you review and apply the result on the Brand kit page.

## Privacy

diagramkit receives only what the assistant sends when it calls a diagramkit tool: your request, any images you attach and the ids of your diagrams. It does not receive your conversation. See the [privacy policy](https://diagramkit.ai/privacy).

## Disconnect

Remove diagramkit under **Settings → Connectors** in Claude, or **Apps** in ChatGPT. To delete your diagrams or account, use the web app or email support.
